Infection Control CME

April 4th 2018, is the foundation day of D Y Patil Hospital, Navi Mumbai. To mark the occasion, we, at, D Y Patil Hospitals, Navi Mumbai have decided to go deeper with Infection Prevention and Control,

and how important it is in a hospital environment. Healthcare-acquired infections (HAIs) are one of the most common complications of healthcare. In India, prevalence is 12-20% or more. There are many contributing factors for HAIs. A well-functioning Infection Prevention and Control program helps to minimize these risks of our patients, residents, visitors and staffs. Hence, Hospital Infection Control Committee (HICC) has taken the opportunity to organise Infection Control CME on the auspicious foundation day of D Y Patil Hospitals, Navi Mumbai.

The CME was inaugurated by Dr. Vijay D. Patil, President D Y Patil Group and Mrs. Shivani V. Patil, Managing Trustee, D Y Patil Group. The dignitaries were felicitated by bouquet and memento by Dr. Anupam Karmakar, CEO, D Y Patil Hospitals, Navi Mumbai. Our President also shared the foundation and beginning journey of the hospital to its present vision and mission.

The CME started with welcoming speech by Organising Chairman, Dr Anupam Karmakar, CEO, D Y Patil Hospitals, Navi Mumbai.  He, explained the crux and importance behind implementation of infection control practises and how it can improve the patient care in any healthcare settings.

Followed by the welcoming note, Infection Control Handbook was published by the respected dignitaries.

Infection Control sessions were taken by Dr. Om Srivastav, Infectious disease consultant, Saifee Hospital, Jaslok Hospital, Wockhardt Hospital Mumbai; Dr Pravin K Nair, Consultant Microbiologist of Holy Spirit Hospital; Dr. Kailash Jawade, Professor, D Y Patil School of Medicine ; Dr. Rahul Peddawad, Associate Professor- Forensic Medicine, D Y Patil School of Medicine; Dr. Debapriya Das Choudhury, Asst. professor, Dept. of Microbiology, D Y Patil School of Medicine.

Hands on training sessions of infection control conducted on ‘Importance of hand Hygiene’, Donning & Doffing of PPE’, Bundle Care: Central Line Associated Bloodstream Infections’. The sessions were conducted by Infection Control Nurses (Sr. Pratima, Sr. Ravita of D Y Patil Hospital).

The CME was concluded by vote of thanks speech by Dr. Rahul Peddawad.

We, HICC of D Y Patil Hospitals, Navi Mumbai, hope that this CME will help all staffs and delegates to understand HAIs, Infection Prevention and Control aspects and the knowledge gained from the sessions will be of immense help to manage such situations.
